This sketch uses two puppets - one boy and one girl and takes about 10 minutes to perform.
Steve, the boy puppet comes up first and speaks to the audience. He's over the top and excited! Sally comes up next, she's over the top and excited too but
sweeter than Steve!

puff pant puff pant – hi everyone – I’m out of breath because I’ve been exercising – I’m practicing for the Olympics – it’s only 4 years
till the next one so I want to make sure I’m ready in time – I want to go in for the Triathlon – you have to be really good to do that –
it’s three things in the one race – swimming, running and cycling and I’m really good at all three. Do you want to know what you have to do?
Well you swim for half a mile, then you cycle for 11 miles, then you run for 3 miles. You have to be really fit to go into the triathlon - that’s why I’m practicing so much. I practice swimming in my bath – to do a half mile I have to swim up and down the bath about 200 times. Then I get out the bath get dried off and into my cycling gear and I cycle up and down the street I live in about 50 times – theeeeeen when I’ve done that I run round the block about 20 times! pchew! I’m exhausted when I’m finished – but it’s worth it – I’ll be ready for the next Olympics in four years – I want to win the gold! I love the bit when they stand up at the end and they get the gold medal round their neck – I don’t like it when they cry though – I won’t cry cause that’s soppy – I’m going to laugh – ha, ha, ha, ha.
Anyway that’s what I’ve been doing – but I’m looking for my sister Sally – the best wee sister in the whole world. Let’s shout on her but let’s do it
different – I’ll shout out the letters of her name and you shout them back – like give me an S – (S) give me an A – (A) give me an L – (L) give me an L – (L)
give me a Y – (Y) what does it spell – SALLY. Got it - let's do it then. Give me an S (audience shout S etc.)

All the way from Edinburgh to Glasgow on your bike. You did not Steve!

Steve
Oh yes I did and do you know how Sally?
Sally
How Steve?
Steve
I came on the train and sat on my bike all the way here! Ha ha ha!
I sat on my bike on the train!
Sally
Oh Steve you really are a trickster. But Steve do you have a joke to tell us this week?
Steve
A joke Sally? I've got a brilliant joke. Knock Knock Sally.
Sally
Who's there?
Steve
Boo!
Sally
Boo who?
Steve
Don't cry Sally it's only a joke! That's funny isn't it - don't cry it's only a joke!
But Sally what have you been doing today?
Sally
I went to the shops to buy a present for my teacher Steve.
Steve
What did you buy her Sally?
Sally
I bought her a posy of flowers Steve - it was lovely - little pink and white and red and yellow flowers and mmmm
it smelled lovely too Steve and do you know what happened when I came out of the shops with the flowers.
Steve
No what happened Sally?
Sally
A butterly landed on them.
Steve
A butterfly - a real butterfly?
Sally
Yes Steve a real butterfly - it was beautiful!
Steve
Sally I've got a great idea why don't we sing the butterfly song?
Sally
Oh yes Steve I love the butterfly song. Let's get the butterflies!!
Steve and Sally go down - and then come up with the butterflies waving behind them.
See end of script for notes on butterflies and the Butterfly Song.
Steve
Ready everyone join in with us.
"If I were a butterfly I'd thank you Lord for giving me wings".
Sally
That was great, I like singing the butterfly song.
Steve
I like it too - because I like butterflies. I'd like to be a butterfly - flying all round the garden fluttering my wings - it would be great fun!
Sally
I like the bit about the little robin in a tree - it would be lovely to be a little bird and just sit in a tree and sing all day.
Steve
My favourite bit is the little fish that giggles with glee. I like giggling with glee.
Sally
So do I Steve - sometimes we giggle with glee all the time don't we.
Steve
That's because we're happy Sally.
Sally
We are Steve but we didn't used to be did we?
Steve
No Sally - I thought no one could love me with my big mouth and squeaky voice - but I was wrong - Jesus loves me.
Sally
And I thought no one could love me with my wooly hair and skinny arms - but now I know Jesus does.
Steve
And so we praise Him for loving us don't we Sally.
Sally
Oh Yes - and for all the things He gives us too - like a home to live in.
Steve
And great friends to play with.
Sally
And lots of toys - I've got a beautiful pink bike with a silver horn on it.
Steve
And I've got a brilliant bike with big chrome handlebars.
Sally
And I've got lots of pretty clothes to wear.
Steve
And I've got super trainers that light up when I walk!
Sally
Gosh there's so many things to praise Jesus for!
Steve
And we can praise Him for helping us too – sometimes when I'm at school my brain hurts thinking about all my work
but I pray and ask Jesus to help me. And do you know what Sally sometimes I just know how to do it OR I ask the
teacher and she always helps me. |
Sally
And I can praise Him for helping me with my friends – sometimes they hurt me and I’m upset but I pray too Steve and Jesus always
reminds me to forgive them and be kind to them and after I do that we’re friends again.
Steve
We've got millions of things to praise Jesus for haven't we Sally M I L L I O N S!
Sally
Oh yes Steve - we really have.
Steve
Sally why don't you sing a wee song about Jesus.
Sally
OK Steve
Chose a suitable song for Sally to sing. Short choruses work well e.g. "Beautiful, Beautiful Jesus is beautiful". or "Isn't He Wonderful"
Steve
Oh that was lovely Sally. Let's pray.
Dear Father God - we pray that everyone here, all the boys and girls and all the mums and dads will know your love - and
that like Sally and me they'll praise you for all the millions of good things you do in their lives. In Jesus name Amen.
Steve
I think I'll go and ride my bike Sally.
